Urban Loft Living

This Kansas City penthouse loft project reflects the power of thoughtful interior styling to bring architecture and lifestyle into quiet alignment.

My role on this project was as Interior Stylist, working within an already compelling architectural framework to refine how the space would ultimately be experienced, lived in, and visually told. Rather than reshaping the architecture, the focus was on honoring it, allowing the structure to lead while layering in warmth, rhythm, and intention through furnishings, objects, and placement.

The loft’s exposed beams, industrial ductwork, and expansive volume set a strong foundation. Styling decisions were guided by respect for these elements, ensuring that nothing competed with the architecture. Instead, carefully selected pieces were introduced to soften scale, define zones, and create moments of pause within the openness.

Mid-century furnishings and sculptural forms were layered thoughtfully to balance the loft’s industrial edge. Each piece was chosen not only for visual impact, but for how it related to proportion, movement, and daily use. The goal was to create a sense of lived-in refinement rather than a styled vignette that felt static or precious.

Styling focused on restraint and clarity. Materials were allowed to breathe. Negative space was treated as intentionally as what filled it. The result is a loft that feels grounded, warm, and authentic to urban living, while remaining visually cohesive and calm.

This project is a reminder that styling is not about adding more, but about knowing when to step back and let architecture speak.
