Modern Eclectic Curator
Modern Eclectic Curator is a deeply personal project. This Kansas City duplex was not only designed by me, but lived in by me, serving as both home and creative laboratory. I approached the space as a study in juxtaposition. Old alongside new. Global alongside local. Refined moments layered with relaxed ones. The goal was not visual perfection, but lived-in harmony.
Pattern on pattern plays a central role throughout the home, something that has become a hallmark of my work. Rather than using pattern sparingly, I intentionally layered it. Textiles converse with one another. Scales shift. Motifs overlap. When done thoughtfully, pattern creates rhythm and warmth rather than noise. It invites the eye to linger and rewards closer looking. This home reflects years of collecting and observing. Pieces gathered over time were placed in dialogue with one another, allowing unexpected relationships to emerge. A woven textile might soften a cleaner-lined piece. An expressive pattern might be grounded by quieter materials nearby. Each room was shaped slowly, with intention, allowing the space to reveal what it needed rather than forcing an outcome.
Living in the home shaped the design in meaningful ways. I paid close attention to how light moved throughout the day, where the eye naturally rested, and how spaces supported both solitude and connection. Feng Shui principles were integrated subtly, guiding flow, balance, and energy without overt symbolism. The result is a home that feels layered, collected, and comfortable. It is eclectic, but not chaotic. Expressive, but grounded. A place where beauty and function coexist easily, and where design supports daily life rather than competing with it.
Modern Eclectic Curator represents my belief that the most compelling interiors are not styled all at once, but composed over time. They tell a story. They hold memory. And they reflect the people who live within them.
